Accident leads to DWI drug arrest

On April 30th, 2017 Cathy Byrd was dispatched to Lovers Lane to a one vehicle motor vehicle accident. Upon arriving she noticed a small red car that had missed the curve and hit a metal fence. The driver was later identified as Crystal Leach a white female. Upon talking to her I asked her what happened she stated that she had been talking on the phone and was not paying attention. Watching her movements around the car as she was looking for her insurance, she was acting very nervous and fatigued as if she was under the influence of something. I decided to conduct a field sobriety test which she failed. At that time I placed her under arrest for suspicion on DWI drugs. I then transported her to the Perry County Detention Center without incident. She is being held at the Perry County Detention awaiting a bond hearing.
