DISPATCH/ 9-1-1
Dispatchers are responsible for answering incoming phone calls, handling radio communications with sheriff's deputies and other officers in the field, entering and maintaining accurate records in the computer aided dispatch system, handling all inquiries and entries into the NCIC/ACIC system (National and Arkansas Crime Information enters), and coordinating sheriff's office operations with other law enforcement agencies and the OEM (Office of Emergency Management) dispatchers maintain all warrants, protection orders and stolen item files as directed by ACIC/NCIC. Each dispatcher/jailer receives certification training in ACIC/NCIC terminal operations and radio/ dispatch procedures. This position provides essential services to all Sheriff's personnel. Dispatchers are also responsible for electronically controlling all entrances and exit points to the facility, monitoring all security video surveillance systems, operating the intercom system, observing inmates in housing areas and communications with inmates via intercom.
DETENTION OFFICERS
Detention Officers are responsible for the receiving and intake procedures for all inamtes. This includes computer book-in, fingerprinting, photographing, searching, change-out, and housing cell block assignment. The Jailer also deals personally with inmates in the housing areas. All persons who are arrested and taken into custody are transported to the Detention Center for booking and incarceration. The Detention Center is divided into separate housing areas for low/medium security risk males, high security risk males, and female inmates, as well as isolation and temporary holding cells. The Detention Center houses both pre-trial detainees and post-conviction inmates who are serving sentences or awaiting transport to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
