Dispatch & Detention
 

 

 

The Perry County Detention Center and 911 Communications are under the leadership of Sheriff Scott Montgomery, Jail Administrator Lt. Bill Finley, Jail Supervisor Teresa LaCook, and Dispatch Supervisor Colleen Thomas. There are 7 full time employees and 7 part time employees that make up the Perry County Detention Center staff. Each employee is trained on Dispatch/911 and as a Jailer.

 

 

DISPATCH/ 9-1-1

Dispatchers are responsible for answering incoming phone calls, handling radio communications with sheriff's deputies and other officers in the field, entering and maintaining accurate records in the computer aided dispatch system, handling all inquiries and entries into the NCIC/ACIC system (National and Arkansas Crime Information enters), and coordinating sheriff's office operations with other law enforcement agencies and the OEM (Office of Emergency Management) dispatchers maintain all warrants, protection orders and stolen item files as directed by ACIC/NCIC. Each dispatcher/jailer receives certification training in ACIC/NCIC terminal operations and radio/ dispatch procedures So far in 2010, there have been 4,822 calls for service based upon complaint calls and calls made to the Sheriff's Office by members of the public. This position provides essential services to all Sheriff's personnel. Dispatchers are also responsible for electronically controlling all entrances and exit points to the facility, monitoring all security video surveillance systems, operating the intercom system, observing inmates in housing areas and communications with inmates via intercom.

DETENTION OFFICERS

Detention Officers are responsible for the receiving and intake procedures for all inamtes. This includes computer book-in, fingerprinting, photographing, searching, change-out, and housing cell block assignment. The Jailer also deals personally with inmates in the housing areas. All persons who are arrested and taken into custody are transported to the Detention Center for booking and incarceration. The Detention Center is divided into separate housing areas for low/medium security risk males, high security risk males, and female inmates, as well as isolation and temporary holding cells. The Detention Center houses both pre-trial detainees and post-conviction inmates who are serving sentences or awaiting transport to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Tobacco products are not allowed in the detention facility. There is a full kitchen where all meals are prepared for inmates. The kitchen is used by the trustees, who are county inmates assigned to work in the kitchen and around the jail with general cleaning and maintenance. Meals are planned each day by the staff.  Meals are supplemented with fresh produce grown by and donated by local merchants.
